The most frequent type of encounter between opposing forces in modern war, say the experts, is to be the meeting engagement... The main battle is on the other side of the Ottinger Forest, but two Soviet battalions - one motor-rifle and one tank - havd been detached to form flank security and econnoiter, moving in parallel towards the setting sun. Two US task forces, meanwhile, are heading north; they are supposed to relieve two exhausted battalions still fighting it out north of the forest... ⚔️ Soviet Tactics Turn 1: From March to Combat · Seize Key Chokepoints Movement Phase Vanguard Company of the Tank Battalion: Maneuver from original positions to take control of the junction between the highway and open terrain, and establish security positions. Main Body of the Motorized Rifle Battalion: Maneuver from original positions to the reverse slope of the forest and the reverse slope of the hillock, and construct anti-tank positions. Main Body of the Tank Battalion: Maneuver from original positions to the reverse slope, and take up concealed overwatch positions. Fire Phase All units maintain radio silence; offensive fire is strictly prohibited. Units shall only conduct reconnaissance and position fortification. Turn 2: Defensive Engagement · Cross-Fire Interdiction Movement Phase Vanguard Company: If US forces advance, conduct a fighting withdrawal to lure the enemy into the pre-designated fire zone.
