Tobruk Map

This map was created by my friend "Wu Gou Ying Xue Ming". The Tobruk Map covers the coastal region of Cyrenaica in northeastern Libya—a core deep-water port and fortified position of the North African campaign, featuring a transition zone between open desert and coastal plateaus, with a narrow coastal highway corridor. The famous Sieges of Tobruk (Allied forces held out for 241 days in 1941; quickly captured by Rommel in 1942) unfolded here. As a strategic linchpin controlling Cyrenaica and cutting the Egypt-Tunisia coastal supply line, Winston Churchill once called it the “Waterloo of the Desert.” Its terrain combines three key combat features: fortress assault, desert maneuver warfare, and coastal logistics line contest. Ideal for battalion- to brigade-level siege, breakout, armored flanking operations, and port defense wargaming. It is an iconic scenario for WWII North African desert warfare, and also serves as a reference setting for modern Middle Eastern coastal desert conflicts.
