North of Sinai (Shamal Sinaʾ) Map

This map was created by my friend "Wu Gou Ying Xue Ming". The North of Sinai (Shamal Sinaʾ) Map covers the northern core of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, bordering the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Israel and the Gaza Strip to the east, and the Suez Canal & Gulf of Suez to the west—serving as the critical “land bridge” connecting Africa and Asia. Dominated by flat desert, coastal plains, sand dunes, and dry wadis, its key urban hub is El-Arish (provincial capital), featuring Mediterranean ports, desert corridors, and border strongpoints, with extreme water scarcity. During the Cold War, it stood as a frontline hub for Arab-Israeli conflict and U. S.-Soviet Middle East rivalry: the main battlefield for armored thrusts and border battles in the 1956 Suez Crisis, 1967 Six-Day War, and 1973 Yom Kippur War, with Israel occupying the area for years to threaten Suez Canal security. Post-1979 Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty, it became a demilitarized buffer zone monitored by the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), a cornerstone of the post-Cold War Middle East peace process. Ideal for brigade-level desert maneuver, border blockade, port seizure, and flank defense of the Suez Canal, it represents a classic wargaming scenario for Middle Eastern geopolitical conflict and Cold War proxy confrontation.
