Ride of the 120th Scenario 5 - Pebble in My Shoe

This is a conversion of the fifth scenario from the Soviet Campaign "Ride of the 120th" from Combat Mission: Cold War to Armored Brigade II. Set north and east of Fulda, the Soviet Campaign follows the “Ride of the 120th Motor Rifle Regt” on the opening 48 hours of a fictional “what if” invasion of West Germany. Players will fight on historical battlefields “that never were”, such as Eiterfield and Alsfeld as part of the first wave of Soviet troops racing towards their divisional objectives. Pebble in My Shoe Situation: 17:00, 14 Jul7, 1982. The 3rd Motor Rifle Battalion was unsuccessful in its attrition of U. S. forces at Niederhossa. However, 2nd Motor Rifle Battalion (BTR) has retaken the lead as the 120th now advances on Alsfeld. Reconnaissance units have spotted U. S. forces in the town of Lingelbach where they dominate Route 62 and the approach to Alsfeld. Lingelbach must be cleared in order for the remainder of the 120th to continue its advance. Mission: Clear and occupy the town of Lingelbach. (Objectives: sports field, industrial yard, downtown and church.) Friendly Forces: 2nd Motor Rifle Battalion complete, one tank company, one sapper company. Support: Three artillery batteries and two Mi 24 Hind flights. Enemy Forces: Suspected company group strength. Enemy has had time to construct extensive fortifications and will have artillery support. Plan: All forces begin on-map. Notes: I've attempted to make the TO&E of both sides and their set up as close to the original CMCW scenarios as possible. Some notable differences include the exclusion of crew-served AT weapons on advance scenarios (as they cannot be loaded into motorized transport in AB2), and replacing them with ATGM vehicles instead.
