Ride of the 120th Scenario 1 - Greatest Dawn

This is a conversion of the first scenario from the Soviet Campaign "Ride of the 120th" from Combat Mission: Cold War to Armored Brigade II. Set north and east of Fulda, the Soviet Campaign follows the “Ride of the 120th Motor Rifle Regt” on the opening 48 hours of a fictional “what if” invasion of West Germany. Players will fight on historical battlefields “that never were”, such as Eiterfield and Alsfeld as part of the first wave of Soviet troops racing towards their divisional objectives. Greatest Dawn Situation: 13 0600 Jul 1982. After achieving strategic and operational surprise the forces of the 8th Guard Army have begun their drive to the Rhine. The US and NATO forces have been caught almost entirely off-guard. The 39th Motor Rifle Division has been ordered to conduct the opening assault within the Fulda Corridor, its mission is to secure the immediate objectives of Bad Hersfeld, Eiterfeld and Hunfeld, with follow-on Divisional objectives of Alsfeld, Lauterbach, and Fulda. The 120th Motor Rifle Regiment will conduct the center axis of advance for the Division (Eiterfeld and Lauterbach). The aim of the 39th MRD is to open the way for the breakout divisions that will carry us to Frankfurt and beyond. The 120th must meet its objective within the first 48 hours or risk USNATO forces re-grouping and forming a stiffer resistance, or worse, able to send reinforcements from the United States. The first advance will be led by the 2nd Bn (BTR) to clear the way to Eiterfeld. Mission: Advance and clear the approach to Eiterfeld. Clear the Bn Objectives of Mansbach, the Mountain Top and Ufhausen of any enemy forces. Friendly Forces: 2nd MRB (BTR) complete. Atts 1 x Tank Coy, 1 x AT Platoon, 1 x ADA platoon.
