SHORT DESCRIPTION

Read-only X4: Foundations mod compatibility analyzer. Detects missing dependencies, duplicate IDs, file replacements and XML overlaps without changing mods, profiles or savegames.

FULL DESCRIPTION

X4 Mod Doctor is an external Windows tool for diagnosing possible compatibility problems between installed X4: Foundations mods. It is not an in-game mod and must not be installed in the X4 extensions folder.

The program scans your local X4 installation and user profiles, then presents its findings in plain language. It works read-only: version 1. 1 does not enable, disable, delete or edit mods, profiles, game files or savegames.

MAIN FEATURES

- Detects the X4 installation, game version and active or most recently used profile.

- Scans mods from the game, user, profile and local Steam Workshop directories.

- Reads content.xml metadata, loose files, CAT/DAT catalogs, GZip-compressed XML and XML 1. 1 files.

- Detects missing or disabled dependencies, duplicate extension IDs, hard file replacements and probable XML overlaps.

- Shows the affected mods, files, XML operations, selectors and targets where available.

- Classifies findings as certain, probable or requiring manual review and provides safe recommendations.

- Exports an anonymized text report for troubleshooting.

- Works completely locally, without an account, telemetry, advertisements, automatic updates or data transfer.

SUPPORTED LANGUAGES

English, German, French, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Traditional Chinese, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Spanish (Latin America), Polish and Czech.

On first launch, X4 Mod Doctor uses a supported Windows display language when possible. Unsupported system languages fall back to English. The language can be changed at any time and the choice is remembered.

REQUIREMENTS

- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.

- An accessible X4: Foundations installation for a useful real scan. Steam installations are detected automatically when possible; another installation folder can be selected manually.

- Approximately 150 MB of free disk space for the extracted application.

- Tested with X4: Foundations 9. 00.

No administrator rights, Steam login, Python, PowerShell or separately installed . NET runtime are required. X4 does not have to be running; closing the game before a diagnosis is recommended so that all files remain in a stable state.

INSTALLATION

1. Download X4ModDoctor-1. 1-win-x64.zip.

2. Extract the complete archive to a normal folder of your choice. Do not start the program from inside the ZIP archive.

3. Keep X4ModDoctor.exe and all included files and subfolders together.

4. Start X4ModDoctor.exe as a normal user.

5. If X4 is not detected automatically, open the settings in X4 Mod Doctor and select the X4 installation folder containing X4.exe.

This is a standalone external application. Do not place it in X4 Foundations/extensions. Installation through Vortex or another in-game mod manager is not required or supported.

The first scan starts automatically. Review the overview and open individual findings for details and recommendations. You can export an anonymized report when requesting help. Please review the exported text yourself before posting it publicly.

1. Close X4 Mod Doctor.

2. Download the new archive.

3. Extract it into a new folder or replace the complete old application folder.

4. Do not mix program files from different versions.

Your X4 mods and profiles are not stored inside the application folder. The selected language and an optional manually selected X4 path are stored separately in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\X4ModDoctor\settings.json

UNINSTALLATION

1. Close X4 Mod Doctor.

2. Delete the extracted X4 Mod Doctor application folder.

3. Optional: delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\X4M
