Viper Set Bonus

What's the purpose?

This mod adds a new and original set bonus for the Viper gears. It's the only "Witcher Set" that doesn't have its own set bonus nor a grandmaster version. Which is a shame since it's medium armour with high resistance, focusing on poison immunity and poison effects.

Inspired by my own work, Witcher School Set Rework and Balance, and upon request. Here is the new set bonus:

  Oil decelerates the sword durability by 15%. The effect is greater the higher the level of oil used.

  Double the damage of poison effect.

  To get this idea, we have to understand what the purpose of the vanilla witcher set, and what their bonus gives.

  We know Feline relies on high sword damage. Griffin on using powerful Signs. Ursine for high protection with Quen. Wolven as a "Jack-of-all-trades" dealing massive bleeding damage. Manticore for high critics using bombs. Forgotten Wolven with its Yrden + Aard combo and longer potions.

  The point ot Viper set, it specialises in protecting and dealing with poison.

  Which suit perfectly when using Skills for Oil: more poison chance, more protection and more critical damage.

  That's how the idea came. An additional effect for the oil, inspired by the real-life usage. Dealing great damage if successfully poisoning the enemy.

  Does it affect Viper's statistics?

  The answer is no. The mod does not change the gears' stats nor add a new tier. You get the bonus exclusively from the Heart of Stone DLC. In fact, Viper Swords from White Orchard does not have the bonus.

  But because you get very early, before doing Blood & Wine, the set bonus is locked until you meet Lazare Lafargue from Toussaint.

  You read right. Even if you craft all the equipment, the bonus is not active until you start any of the Grandmaster scavenger quests.

  Unless you're playing in New Game Plus, witcher set bonus are always active there.

  1. Use Witcher 3 Mod Manager, or extract the files in your game's directory, Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY Edition.

  2. Launch Script Merger and merge the script if it conflicts.

  How to uninstall?

  Remove the folder "modViperSetBonus" from Mods folder.
