📋 About This Mod

Vanilla controls are trash- I fixed them. Supports Xbox, PS, Steam, and Switch icons in game automatically, including tutorials. Melee combat uses the RT/RB, while leaving dodge and roll on the face buttons. Quick Sign uses LT+A,B,Y,X and

Modern Trigger Combat Controls for 5. 0

Light and heavy attacks move to the right bumper and trigger, while dodge and roll stay on the face buttons. Quick Sign Casting remains available, interaction moves to Y, and D-pad holds give you the radial menu and Roach without consuming your equipped item.

The mod also adjusts Geralt’s analog walk-to-run response and updates the Controls help page, selected tutorials, HUD prompts, and interaction button assignments.

Built for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered 5. 00 on Windows PC.

Main controls

  • []RB — light attack; hold for the corresponding special attack.[/]

[]RT — heavy attack; hold for the corresponding special attack.[/]

[]LB — guard/parry in combat; Witcher Senses while exploring.[/]

[]LT — cast the selected Sign, or hold for Quick Sign Casting when enabled.[/]

[]A — roll in combat; jump or vault while exploring.[/]

    []B — dodge in combat.[/]

    []X — selected bomb, crossbow, or quick-access item.[/]

    []Y — interact, loot, talk, and mount.[/]

    []L3 — sprint.[/]

[]R3 — target lock or objective tracking, depending on context.[/]

    D-pad and menu shortcuts

    • []Tap Up — use the upper consumable.[/]

[]Hold Up for half a second — open the radial menu. Releasing the opening hold does not consume an item.[/]

[]Tap Down — use the lower consumable.[/]

[]Hold Down for half a second while exploring — call Roach immediately, without consuming the lower item.[/]

      []Left/Right — steel/silver sword controls.[/]

      []View — pause.[/]

[]Menu — tap for the fast menu; hold for the map.[/]

Set inside the game settings: Alternative Quick Access Menu control mode selects with the right stick inside the radial menu when enabled; otherwise selection uses the left stick. A confirms and B closes.

      Movement and sprint

Geralt enters the running gait at approximately 85% left-stick travel in any direction and reaches full running speed by 95%. This gives walking more stick range while leaving room for sticks that do not quite reach their maximum travel.

L3 uses the game’s vanilla sprint handling. With the left-stick sprint option enabled, click L3 to toggle sprint. With that option disabled, hold L3 to sprint.

      Quick Sign Casting

The layout works with Quick Sign Casting on or off.

With it enabled, hold LT and press:

      • []A — Aard[/]

        []X — Axii[/]

        []Y — Yrden[/]

        []B — Quen[/]

        []RB — Igni[/]

With Quick Sign Casting disabled, LT casts the selected Sign.

        Choose one shoulder layout

        The main edition uses:

RB light attack / RT heavy attack / LB guard and Senses / LT Signs.

The optional Swapped Shoulder Edition uses:

RT light attack / RB heavy attack / LT guard and Senses / LB Signs.

In the swapped edition, Quick Sign Casting uses LB plus A/Aard, X/Axii, Y/Yrden, B/Quen, or RT/Igni.

Install one edition at a time. When switching editions, replace both input.settings and the mod folder.

        Controller support and automatic icons

The updated prompts use the game’s native button artwork for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam Controller, and Switch 2, according to the controller type detected by the game. No separate controller-specific icon download is required.

If Steam Input presents your controller as an Xbox gamepad, the game will display Xbox icons. Use a gamepad layout rather than keyboard-and-mouse emulation.

The button names and diagrams in this description use Xbox labels. On PlayStation, A/B/X/Y correspond to Cross/Circle/Square/Triangle. For Nintendo controllers, follow the physical button positions because the printed letters differ.

Native icon support is implemented; individual controller models and Steam Input configurations have not all been tested. This download is a Windows PC mod, not a console release.

        Other gameplay contexts

        • []Ciri — RB/RT attacks, A dash in combat, B dodge, LT special attack.[/]

[]Horse — A controls speed, B jumps or holds to dismount, Y handles mounted interactions.[/]

          []Boat — A accelerates, X decelerates, B disembarks.[/]

          []Swimming — A rises or surfaces; B dives down.[/]

          []Photo Mode — L3 + R3 together.[/]

Dialogue, menus, and Gwent retain their normal controls. See the context map for the edition you install.
