📋 About This Mod

A simple kneeling animation. When you press the assigned key or button, it makes Geralt kneel and stay in that position until you press it again. He appears to be meditating but it doesn't activate the meditation mechanic.

This mod is an update of Clayman648's "Kneel my son" mod here at Nexus, fixed to work in NGE.

It is simply a kneeling animation, nothing more. It could not be simpler. There are no requirements and it should not conflict with any other mods.

When you press the assigned key or button, it makes Geralt kneel and stay in that position until you press it again. That's it. It doesn't activate the meditation mechanic, so it's really just a bit of roleplay, performed for immersion rather than game mechanics. Seemingly meaningless activities like this might be lost on some, but I know that for others (myself included) they enrich the overall gaming experience through added immersion, making the game world feel more real and personal. For example, before logging off, I like to to kneel in front of a fire in a room in an inn or cottage!

You can still use the Friendly meditation mod with this if you wish. They do not conflict.

Instructions

The Witcher 3 Mod Manager

Installing and uninstalling using The Witcher 3 Mod Manager is the easiest way to use this mod. Make sure to run script merger afterwards, because this modifies the playerWitcher.ws file.

You will also need to map the action to a key or button. On a PC I used the '8' key because it was free. So, in the Mod Manager's Input Settings tab, under , add a line like this:

IK_8=(Action=Sit)

For manual install (PC)

Manual install involves three steps:

1) Modifiying the playerWitcher.ws file

2) Copying the SitDown.ws file to the game folder

3) Configuring the input.settings file with an entry for a button or a key to activate the animation.

These steps in detail are:

1) To modifiy the playerWitcher.ws file, find your game's playerWitcher.ws file (...\The Witcher 3\content\content0\scripts\game\player\playerWitcher.ws) and add the following line to it, just before event OnSpawned( spawnData : SEntitySpawnData ) function. (You might want to back up the original file first):

  public var modPlayerSitting : CPlayerSitting;

And then, in the same file at the end of the above function, just before the closing brace, add:

modPlayerSitting = new CPlayerSitting in this;

modPlayerSitting.initAction();

You can have a look at the playerWitcher.ws file I have provided with the mod files if you're not sure about this.

2) To add the SitDown.ws file, extract the contents of modKneelAnimationNGE.zip and find the SitDown.ws script. Copy this to the game directory

(....\The Witcher 3\content\content0\scrip
