📋 About This Mod

FtyCombat aims to make combat less repetitive and more reliant on blocking and parrying rather than dodging.

Description

The goal of this project is to create stamina-based combat, but unlike other Souls-like or stamina-based mods, it encourages you not to run away from enemies and wait passively when your stamina runs out. Instead, it promotes aggressive play and the use of the full Witcher arsenal rather than simply spamming light attacks.

Core Changes:

- Attacks, dodges, rolls, parries, counterattacks, and Signs use configurable stamina. Perfect parries and counterattacks do not drain stamina.

- You can now perfect block most attacks by pressing guard shortly before the attack lands even when in another combat or non combat animation, even custom animations should work although I only partly tested with Complete Animations Redux. The timing window is configurable.

-  A well-timed guard costs no stamina, prevents damage, and staggers the attacker. When your stamina is below 40%, a perfect block also restores stamina.

- To encourage less repetitive combat, performing the same action twice in a row applies a stamina penalty. For example, a second consecutive light attack, heavy attack, or cast of the same Sign costs twice as much stamina. Using a different type of attack, casting a different Sign, rolling, dodging, or parrying breaks the streak and removes the penalty. This feature can be turned off.

- To promote more aggressive combat, I added a Lies of P-inspired health regain system. When Geralt takes damage, the player has 2 seconds to regain up to 25% of the lost health by landing attacks or performing perfect blocks.

- The longer the player goes without performing one of these actions, the less health can be recovered. After the 2-second window expires, no health can be regained. A light or heavy attack that pays any repeated-action stamina penalty, will not restore health.

- Enemies have a poise system. Perfect blocks and counterattacks reduce enemy poise. Enemy poise scales with level difference by ±5% for each level, and enemies begin regenerating poise if they have not taken damage or been perfect blocked for 8 seconds. Enemies affected by Axii take 50% more poise damage. When an enemy runs out of poise, they are stunned for 6 seconds. Hitting a poise-broken enemy during this stun deals 350% damage, capped at 25% of maximum health for bosses. Landing the hit ends the stun and resets the enemy's poise.

- Some skills have been changed to improve parries and counterattacks, mainly skills that become less useful with this playstyle.

- When you enter combat, you gain one-time-per-combat buffs for relatively underused actions to encourage more combat diversity.
