Destiny Favors the Witcher rigs the dice poker minigame in The Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition so the player always rolls a

top-tier hand. Every throw, your dice resolve to one of five winning patterns chosen at random. Your opponent still

plays naturally — you just stop losing.

This is not a score overlay or a fake-display patch. The dice values themselves are forced inside the game's own

scoring pipeline, so the hand shown in the UI, the score the engine computes, and the AI's reaction all stay

internally consistent. No "Geralt rolled junk but somehow won" weirdness.

Installation

1. Open your Witcher install folder, e.g.

...\GOG Galaxy\Games\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\System\Scripts\

2. Back up the original mg_poker_main.luc (rename it to mg_poker_main.luc.stock or copy it somewhere safe). Do not

3. Drop the mg_poker_main.luc from this archive into that same folder, overwriting when prompted.

4. Launch the game. Find any dice poker opponent and play.

To uninstall: delete the modded file and restore your backup.

Main Features

- Player dice always settle on one of: Five-of-a-Kind, Four-of-a-Kind, Full House, Big Straight (2-3-4-5-6), or Small

Straight (1-2-3-4-5).

- The winning pattern is rolled randomly each round, so hands still feel varied.

- Opponent rolls are completely untouched — full natural physics, full natural luck.

- Bets, re-rolls, and the betting AI all work normally; the forced result applies once dice settle.

- Single-file drop-in. No script extender, no launcher, no DLLs.

- Fully reversible — restore the stock file any time.

Known Quirk

Dice tumble with vanilla physics for about half a second before snapping to their forced faces. There is a brief

window where you can see the real rolled face before it locks in. This is intentional: keeping the real physics tumble

makes the throw still look and feel like a throw, instead of a stiff scripted animation.

script files).

- Nothing else. No script extenders, no other mods, no external runtimes.

- CD Projekt RED - for The Witcher and the Aurora-derived script system that made the poker minigame moddable in the

first place.

- The unluac project - the Lua 5. 0 decompiler that made the EE's bytecode readable.

- Lua.org - for the original Lua 5. 0. 3 reference compiler used to rebuild the script.
