Smooth Map (Next Gen)

Description

Makes panning the map smoother when using a controller or a keyboard.  60 fps and 120 fps versions are available.  Map edits are built on top of Smooth GUI (because I figured no one would want a 120 fps map with 30 fps animations).

  This is my first Witcher 3 mod so feedback is appreciated!

  Installation instructions

  1. Download the version that is most appropriate for your refresh rate and other map mods.

  2. If you're installing with Vortex, installation will be automatic and you can proceed to the next step.  If you're installing manually, extract the mod folder to your The Witcher 3/Mods directory.

  3. Make sure that the mod has a higher priority than Smooth GUI and all other map mods.  There are no scripts to merge.

  Technical Notes

  Map panning code is contained entirely in the panel_worldmap.redswf file.  The map updates on a timer when using keyboard and controller input.  I increased the frequency of the timer and reduced the speed of panning proportionally.  A better approach would ditch timers altogether and rewrite the panning code to be completely framerate independent (like dragging the map with the mouse), but this was good enough for my setup.

  Strongly recommended to use alongside Smooth GUI.
