Pet Boar Plus

Description

Three minutes. That's how long Windrose lets you keep your pet boar before he politely vanishes into the ether like he was never there. Three. Whole. Minutes. You blow the Boar Whistle, you say "Hi, Truffle," you head off to chop a tree, and by the time you turn around your loyal companion has ascended.

Pet Boar Plus is a small set of upgrades that makes your boar feel like an actual companion instead of a 180-second cameo. Rename him whatever you want. Make him stick around until the world (or the wolves) decide otherwise. And when you're done with him, send him on his way with the press of a button.

  []Make Him Permanent — No more 3-minute despawn timer. Your boar stays where you summon him until killed in combat (he has health and can fight, so wolves and pirates can still take him down). The whistle's normal cooldown still applies, so you can resummon him in a new spot when ready.[/]

  []Dismiss Hotkey — Press 0 to send your boar away whenever you want. Default key is configurable.[/]

  []Fully Configurable — Each feature toggles independently. Use what you want, ignore the rest.[/]

  Requirements

  UE4SS — free, one-time install. Required by most Windrose mods, so if you've modded before you likely already have it.

  Installation

  Step 1 — Install UE4SS (skip if you already have it)

  1. Download UE4SS from GitHub. Scroll down to the Assets section and download the file named something like UE4SS_v3. 0. 1-416-g4a88719.zip — the version numbers update frequently.

  2. Extract the zip and drop the contents into your game's Win64 folder:

  \Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\When done it should look like this:

  3. Navigate to \Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\ and open UE4SS-settings.ini in Notepad. Find these lines:

  MajorVersion =

  MinorVersion =Change them to:

  MajorVersion = 5

  MinorVersion = 6Save the file.

  Step 2 — Install the mod

  4. Download this mod and extract the zip. Drop the PetBoarPlus folder into:

  \Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\When done it should look like this:

  \Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\PetBoarPlus\enabled.txt

  \Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\PetBoarPlus\config.txt

  5. (Optional) Open PetBoarPlus\config.txt and customize. Change the pet name, toggle features on or off, change the dismiss key.

  6. Launch the game. Use the Boar Whistle as normal. Your boar arrives with the new name and stays put until you dismiss him or he gets killed in combat.

  Configuration

  Open the config.txt file inside the mod folder in any text editor. The settings are clearly labeled and commented. Change what you want, save, and either restart all mods (UE4SS menu) or relaunch the game.

  Defaults are sensible — install and play, or tinker if you want.

  Single-Player Only (For Now)

  This version (v1. 0) is designed for single-player. It also works fine when you are the host of a listen-server (your machine is the host).

  Multiplayer and dedicated server compatibility is on the roadmap but not in this release. The mod uses some techniques that don't yet behave correctly in server-authoritative networking — installing on a dedicated server can produce unexpected results (such as orphaned pet boars persisting in the world even after you log out). Future versions will address this.
