Marksman's Choice

Description

TL;DR:

This one is dedicated to my brother from another mother and comrade-in-arms, Captain Daniels.

I've heard many complaints about the "four hours of playing followed by two hours of farming ammo" routine from players that decided to take the path of the Marksman (as Captain Daniels did aswell). And guess what? They are right.

You burn through ammo very quick as a ranged fighter. Copper and iron are scarce and the deposits have a long respawn timer.

The game itself is also a little bit "unfair" in this part. Melee weapons do not degrade (which I'm fine with), but as a ranged fighter you have to kinda "maintain" your weapon. Which is also fine, but a fair bit too tiresome.

So, I could have gone the easy route, make 1 ingot craft 100 bullets or multiply the loot on minerals by .

However, as with all my mods so far, I try to keep the game balance intact and/or make logical decisions.

Installation instructions

Extract the file in the .zip-file to your game directory \R5\Content\Paks\~mods. If the ~mods folder does not exist, just create it.

Do not install optional files together with the main file! However, you can mix and match all the optional files as you like.

Main feature:

Let the crew empty their pockets before you drown them with the ship!

Added crew loot to the boarding loot (YOU WILL ONLY GET THIS AFTER BOARDING and defeating the required amount of hostile crew members for the victorious boarding).

Please be aware, that I added only the ammo parts of the corresponding loot tables, the crew itself will not drop anything else but gunpowder and bullets. 

Also, to keep the game mechanics intact, I did (like I said) add the loot TABLES, not the loot itself. This means, the loot can vary (like 4-6 pieces f.e. or even nothing, it's rolled from the tables ). So it adds the original chances for loot drops, like if you killed said mobs on land.

Originally, I had the plan to mix the loot of some sailors (depending on ship size) with the loot of fewer Musketeers, but this was leaning all too much towards dropping gunpowder in comparison to bullets.

Sailors never drop bullets and even musketeers do drop much more gunpowder than bullets.

I ditched that plan and went full musketeers for the crews (except cutters) but shrinked the expected crew size a little bit.

Feature 2 (rather boring but helpful for ranged fighters):

I cranked up the stack size for firearms ammo (gunpowder and bullets - and ONLY for that) from 40 to 150.

Feature 3 (boring aswell but balanced - at least I hope so):

- changed recipe for gunpowder from 10 to 15 (your invest is 10 sulfur and 20 ash, you should get more than 10 😉 )

- changed recipe for bullets (except stone) from 5 to 10 per ingot (this mod is not meant to break the game's economy, you still should go and thrash some copper/iron deposi
