Adds a configurable GPS minimap to VEIN using UE4SS.
The minimap supports multiple visibility modes, adjustable brightness and zoom, on-screen repositioning, vehicle detection, and configuration reloading without restarting the game.

1. 1. 0 — Smoothness & performance
The minimap no longer visibly steps as you move. The camera that draws it was only being
repositioned 8 times a second, so while the image rendered at full framerate the view jumped
in stutters — most obvious while driving. It now follows at roughly 30 Hz and reads as smooth.
- Follow rate raised from ~8 Hz to ~30 Hz.
- The script tick is much cheaper, which is what made that affordable. Layout and post-process
settings were being rewritten ~8 times a second even when nothing changed; they now re-apply
only when something actually changes. Map-item and vehicle checks are sampled on a timer.
- Distant scenery is culled from the capture, scaled to your zoom. Override with MAX_DRAW_DIST.
- New: CAPTURE_SHADOWS = false in config.lua — the biggest single GPU saving.
- New: TUNE_SHOWFLAGS and PERSIST_STATE — experimental, off by default, see the README.
- Fixed: settings.lua is no longer bundled, so updating won't wipe your saved position, size,zoom and brightness.
Requirements
Tested with the Unreal Engine 5. 6 version of VEIN.
UE4SS must already be installed and working with VEIN.
UE4SS-Vein is a separate mod loader and is not included with this download. Install a UE4SS build that supports Unreal Engine 5. 6 and follow its installation instructions.
A working UE4SS installation should create this folder:

[]Pick up the GPS/map item. The minimap should appear in the corner of the screen.[/]
enabled.txtfile tells UE4SS to load the mod. Do not delete it.
To temporarily disable the mod, rename the file to:
enabled.txt.off
Finding the VEIN Installation Folder
Right-click VEIN → Manage → Browse local files
Controls
Reload scripts and apply configuration changes
Increase minimap brightness
Decrease minimap brightness
Rebuild the map capture
Hide the minimap
Respawn the minimap
Enter or exit layout mode
Cycle visibility: Always → Vehicle Only → Off
Write diagnostic information to
F5if the minimap becomes black, frozen, or stops updating after dying, respawning, loading a save, or sitting through a long loading screen.
