Vands vanilla thunderclap sound distortion fix

A quick attempt to fix the vanilla Valheim audible thunder sound distortion by replacing few audio clips.

I've noticed that the thunderclap audio files that play during thunderstorms sound badly distorted/clipping, at least for me and my setup they do. I did this for myself and decided to put it available here as well, if some other Vikings are similarly annoyed with the sounds in question.

I've used some available thunder storm sounds and used Audacity's simple fading/lowpass/highpass amplification effects to get rid of any clipping to get some replacement sounds.

  Some of the available Valheim sound packs mods out there may include replacements for all thunder storm sounds for example by giving a replacement directory (sfx_thunder) for CustomAudio mod, but some of the thunder audio files I've tried just won't work right, since they are too long or the sounds end abruptly because of missing fade outs or other quality issues.

  This mod is not a high quality fix either. The sounds are thunder sounds and work okay, but they are not proper claps really. I mashed this together in one hour, but at least there are no thunder clap distortions anymore when using these. With proper high quality thunder clap sound material I could create a better sound set if I happened to have enough time and energy :)

  Installation:

  • []You need the "CustomAudio" mod from Thunderstore Mod Manager or from Nexus.

  • []Download and unpack this mods file

    []Put the eight audio files of this mod into the "CustomAudio/SFX/" folder (check images)

    []I don't know how to install with Vortex or Nexus mod setup, since I'm using Thunderstore Mod Manager for Valheim. Any sound files for CustomAudio I put to their place manually. Anyway you need to find your CustomAudio mod's folders and put the 8 audio files of this mod to "CustomAudio/SFX/"

    • []If you are using some other replacement sounds for thunder storms, you might already have some other replacement files for the thunder clap sounds of this mod.

      [] If you have a replacement "sfx_thunder" directory already like this: "CustomAudio/SFX/sfx_thunder/" then all thunder sounds are already replaced by the sound files in that folder. (CustomAudio mod documentation explains this more thoroughly)
