Valheim VRM Models

This mod offers custom models for your player character. They were converted from freely available models at RenderHub, mostly models from Rip Van Winkle (thanks!).

It requires Valheim VRM, which allows you to use any VRM model as replacement of the player model.

Most freely available VRM models are anime characters, which I personally deem as not very lore-friendly - that's why I converted some myself.

Installation

• []Install BepInEx

  []Install Valheim VRM

  []Download a VRM Model and place it into your ValheimVRM folder together with the matching {model}_settings.txt

  []Rename the two files so the filename matches your character, e.g. for a charakter named Freyr it should be freyr.vrm and settings_freyr.txt

  You are now ready to play! If you play in multiplayer, you may also place a model (including the settings file) for each of your friends (or whatever) into ValheimVRM. The file name must match the character's name.

  The instructions for the required Valheim VRM mod is a bit confusing, so here is my take on it

  • []Download Valheim VRM

    []Copy both files from "ValheimVRM_1. 0. 12/BepInEx_pluginsé╔ô³éÛéÚâtâ@âCâï" to the game's BepInEx/plugins

    []Copy the files from "ValheimVRM_1. 0. 12\valheim_Data_Managedé╔ô³éÛéÚâtâ@âCâï" to the game's valheim_Data/Managed

    []Create a folder named ValheimVRM in your game folder (steamapps\common\Valheim\ValheimVRM)

    Known Issues & Limitations

    • []I made sure the models are almost exactly the same size as the original model. However, due to different length and sizes (arms, legs, fingers,...) the skeleton might be imprecise. This can result in displaced tools in certain positions and animations - e.g. skinny models might walk as if their pants are full.

      []Some models have a crazy amount of polygons. Loading them might take a few extra seconds when your game starts or when switching characters.

      []You won't see any armor.

      []The global texture filter also applies to the models. Even a source model with super-high-res and high polygon count might look washed-out... because that's the valheim style. It would probably look very out-of-place if not (and I have no control over it anyway).

      Conflicts

      Valheim VRM might conflict with other mods that modify the character model or the player's skeleton.
