If you've ever found yourself accidentally fighting a troll with your fists because you spammed the hot key for a weapon, this mod is for you.
Smart Equip replaces the prior DisableHotbarUnequip and expands its functionality.
Usage:

[]If Auto Shield is enabled in F1 Configuration menu, Smart Equip will equip your shield, if you have one, whenever you equip a one-handed weapon. As an added bonus, this saves a hotbar slot as you no longer need to use a slot for your shield.

]If Hotbar Unequip is disabled in in F1 Configuration menu, Smart Equip disables the vanilla game behavior that toggles whether a weapon is equipped from the hotbar. With this mod, the hotkey will only equip and swap weapons but will not unequip them. Weapons must be unequipped by using the "R" key instead. This is meant to address the situation where you accidently unequip your weapon by spamming its hot key and then end up losing a fist fight with a troll. The other hot key functions are unchanged otherwise so swapping weapons and equipping them in the first place works the same as vanilla.Smart Equip does not affect how armor and/or other items are equipped or unequipped.
Installation: Install with Vortex or manually by unzipping the dll in the bepinex/plugins directory.
