📋 About This Mod
After a long wait, I finally publish my version of Middle-Earth map, built from scratch with as reference the LotR tabletop rpg map, using Photoshop and Gaea, with many real heightmaps from our world blended into the custom heightmap.
It is a world save ready to start playing on. The 3 files go into C:\Users\"youruser"\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local
Better Continents does not works with Steam Cloud, disable it for Valheim (or for everything if you don't use it...)
The heightmap is 8k with details from the roughmap in 16k..! There is roads embedded in the terrain and paved or as path. Note that there is
no automatic way to remove vegetation and rocks from the roads at the
moment. You will have to clean them and get resources while at it..!
This first version is barebones, meaning there is no LotR buildings, as well as no bridges where the included roads crosses rivers. It will be yours to build and be creative! If at some point I get an amount of great builds propositions, I might publish a populated version...
There is also no custom solution for Moria yet. I will try to find a way to incorporate it, probably with some help...
Also, as it is Middle-Earth, it is a vast land for ground adventures. You still can sail around the continent and on many rivers, but most of the exploration will be on land. So, to have some fun doing it, I recommend a horse mod, you know, to be a Riders of Rohan..! I'm using Odin Horse
It might not be easy to start and play on a server because of the size of the save file. If any player has trouble on the first connect that download the world to cache it, someone that can already play on it can share it's cache file for the related server.
Better Continents cache files are located in this folder C:\Users\"youruser"\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\BetterContinents\cache
Jere updated the Better Continents version! You are all still welcome to visit the Valheim Worlds discord if needed!
