Introduction Seeing the warm reaction my main project has gotten, I thought I would share this likely incredibly niche side project. Have you ever been waiting for a ship to appear over the horizon, watching your men play cards, and thought: "well shit, I'm just going to play chess until something happens." WELL IT JUST SO HAPPENS, those two niche problems can now become one larger problem. DAS FISH Das Fish converts UBOAT's card-table activity into a playable chess system powered by Stockfish 18. Challenge sailors and officers, build a persistent ship-wide competition ladder, spectate crew matches, run seeded bracket tournaments and settle important naval matters through the ancient tradition of moving tiny wooden horses around until somebody gets annoyed. Crew move to the table, an in-world 3D chessboard appears, and matches are played through a full 2D chess interface.
