Gee Bee R1

The Gee Bee R1 was a racing aircraft from the 1930s, designed by the Granville Brothers Aircraft. They simply streamlined an 800 HP Pratt & Whitney Wasp engine and added just enough wing and tail control surface area to barely keep it airborne and moving at a record speed of 476kph (~296 mph). The difference to the second “barrel”-plane R2 was the even more powerful engine and the somewhat less tapered engine cowling and smaller fuel capacity. Features: - What features? …Um, ok it has automatic trim, flaps and engine assistance for slow flight, but still needs some practice for landings, because there is NO suspension! Even a test version with suspension wasn’t really less pumpy to land. It will work fine if you have figured out how. Sie haben einfach einen 800 PS starken Pratt & Whitney Wasp-Motor strömungsgünstig verkleidet und gerade so viel Flügel- und Hecksteuerfläche hinzugefügt, dass es in der Luft zu halten war. Eine Rekordgeschwindigkeit von 476 km/h (~296 mph) konnte so erreicht werden. Der Unterschied zum zweiten "Fass"-Flugzeug R2 war das noch stärkere Triebwerk und die etwas weniger konische Motorhaube und die geringere Treibstoffkapazität. Features: - Welche Features? … Ähm, ok, es gibt automatische Trimmung, Klappen und Motorunterstützung für Langsamflug, man braucht aber noch etwas Übung für Landungen, -KEINE Federung!
