A Performance Mod for Subnautica Below Zero

Fabulous Optimization is a lightweight performance mod for Subnautica Below Zero that dramatically improves framerate by intelligently throttling expensive CPU and GPU systems without breaking gameplay. It combines render distance control, update throttling, and graphics quality overrides — all configurable in-game via the Options menu.

Key Features

• []Per-Layer Render Distance — Set separate culling distances for surface and underwater using Unity's native layerCullDistances (no hacks, no shader tricks). Default: 1000m surface / 200m underwater.[/]

  []CPU Throttling — Reduces update frequency for creature AI, buoyancy physics, weather, ecosystem and more via time-based throttling (not frame-count), saving CPU cycles with zero visual impact.[/]

  []GPU Optimization — Throttles expensive visual systems: water surface, volumetric lights, sky rendering, fog of war, sun shafts, and shader globals.[/]

  []Quality Overrides — Force lower LOD bias, shadow distance, anti-aliasing, texture quality, and disable expensive post-processing (bloom, DOF, motion blur, SSR, AO).[/]

  []Aggressive Mode — One-click preset that applies all optimizations on startup. Perfect for low-end PCs or laptops.[/]
