📋 About This Mod

A verified setup for DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in Stellar Blade, with measured numbers. Covers the OptiScaler route and the ReShade route, how to prove it is really working from the log, what the neural pass actually costs at 4K, and fixes

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in Stellar Blade

A verified, no-guesswork setup for running DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in Stellar Blade, with measured numbers instead of guesswork.

This is a guide. It does not redistribute NVIDIA binaries, ReShade, OptiScaler or the RenoDX add-on - you get those from their original sources.

v2 update: OptiScaler is now the recommended route. It exposes a Model Resolution control that the ReShade add-on does not have, and that control is the single biggest lever on performance. The original ReShade route is kept below as an alternative.

What this actually does

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is not an upscaler and not frame generation. It is a neural pass that runs over the finished frame and rebuilds lighting, skin structure and local tone - NVIDIA's own description is "3D-guided neural rendering". In practice: skin stops looking like plastic, hair catches light, and materials pick up detail the engine never rendered.

It is also expensive. NVIDIA quote 50-80% performance cost, and on my 5070 Ti at 4K the neural pass alone measures ~17 ms - about 54% of the frame. Read the Performance section before you decide this is for you.

Stellar Blade has no official DLSS 5 support. This is the community implementation.

What you get from this page

The download here is small on purpose - about 14 KB. It contains no binaries.

Install.cmd finds the game, asks which route,

backs up, copies your files into place

Uninstall.cmd removes everything, offers to restore

README.md this guide, offline

ReShade-ADDON-snippet.txt the block for manual installs

CHANGELOG.txt

The installer does not download anything for you. You still need the files listed under "Read this first" below. It just handles finding the game folder, checking what you already have, backing it up, and putting things where they belong.

You do not have to use it. Both routes below are four or five manual steps. The script exists so you do not have to hunt for the Win64 folder or remember the ReShade.ini line.

Already running v1.x? Read this before installing

OptiScaler and ReShade both want to be dxgi.dll. They cannot both have it. If you installed v1.x you have ReShade sitting in that slot, and dropping OptiScaler on top will silently replace it.

That matters if you use other ReShade add-ons - the RenoDX HDR mod, AutoHDR, ReShade effects. Those all go away with ReShade.

Your options:

  • []Staying on ReShade? Nothing to do. Route B still works and is still documented. You lose Model Resolution, that is all.

[]Switching to OptiScaler and you only ever used it for DLSS 5? Run Uninstall.cmd first, then install Route A. Clean swap.

[]Switching but you also run other ReShade add-ons? Move ReShade to a different proxy slot first - rename its dxgi.dll to winmm.dll, version.dll or d3d12.dll - then give dxgi.dll to OptiScaler. Both load, neither fights.

If you use RHI, read the Compatibility section. RHI deploys a fixed set of five add-ons to any game you point it at and will overwrite an OptiScaler dxgi.dll without asking. This has bitten people, including me.

Read this first - what you need before anything else

Nothing here downloads itself. Have these ready:

    • []An RTX 50 series GPU. RTX 20/30/40 need a community-patched DLL - see the FAQ. There is no way around this on the official file.[/]

      []nvngx_dlssnr.dll - the Neural Rendering model, ~158 MB. From the RenoDX Discord (#dlss5-downloads) or RankFTW/rhi-repo, tag dlssnr-310. 8. 0.[/]

[]Either OptiScaler or ReShade 6. 8. 0 with FULL ADD-ON SUPPORT - depending on which route you pick below.[/]

      []Current NVIDIA Game Ready driver.[/]

      []~200 MB free.

Single-player only. Never use injected add-ons in multiplayer or anti-cheat games.

Why Stellar Blade is one of the easy ones

Most of the pain people hit elsewhere does not apply here. Confirmed from the game's own Engine.ini:

      ; DirectX 12

      r. NGX. DLSS. Sharpness=0              ; native DLSS via NVIDIA NGX

      r. Streamline. DLSS. Sharpness=0      ; Streamline present
