📋 About This Mod

LATEST STARFIELD UPDATE

For the latest information about compatibility with the Free Lanes and Terran Armada update, due for release 7 April, please see the sticky post https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/9285?tab=posts

There are a bunch of different POIs out there, but its easy to miss them when 35 of them are all called 'Cave', 16 are called Civilian Outposts.etc.  There are even 7 Pipeline Substation POIs.

What this mod does is give each POI a unique name, ideal for explorers, so it's much easier to see if you've come across a new one.

I've also removed some code that stopped you seeing the POI name when you first scan then, it would only show type of POI (civ/sci/industrial outpost). Now you can see right from the start what it is.

Note that this does not ADD any POIs.  you'll see some different names but the POIs have always been there. Just a bit easier to notice when there's one you've not seen before.

Its somewhat unrealistic as well... how do you know the cave is full of blue crystals when you first scan it?  But in terms of a compromise between complete realism and helping to see new POIs/avoid ones you don't want I think its worth doing this.

In this initial version I've focused on mostly caves and industrial outposts, covering 88 POIs so far. More POIs to follow in subsequent versions, just as soon as I've nailed down what to call them all.

FAQ

The POI names are very subjective, it is hard to find adjectives for 30 caves most of which aren't that different.  Where suitable I've used references in the game files, such as the fact that the glowy things in 'Bubble Fungi Cave' are indeed referred to as fungus in game files.  Some are still very similar though, I have spent time visiting them and tweaking my names but I know there's not a huge difference between 'slimy cave' and 'wet cave' and 'steamy cave'. Open to suggestions on improvements.

Again this does not add any POIs.  But there's going to be some you rarely have seen that will be a bit easier to find from now on!

Included in this version

88 new names for POIs, including

- 16 civilian outposts

- 16 industrial outposts

- 9 science outposts

- 5 pipeline terminus

- 4 pipeline substations

- 2 mining outposts

- 1  'outpost'

more to come!

Compatibility (version 1. 0)

This changes both the location names (used with quests) and some of the map markers of POIs.  That's fairly wide reaching, so sorry expect some clashes with other POI overhaul mods.  I'll do what I can to flag/patch as needed.  There's a patch for my mod POI Cooldown as an optional file.  I suggest this is placed higher up in your load order as its only a cosmetic change, it just may mean that some of the POI names I change get ov
