📋 About This Mod
Before installing this as a bugfix, try using the console commands to reset some stealth settings to default values temporarily:
setgs fSneakExteriorDistanceMult 1. 25
setgs fSneakLightMult 1
setgs fSneakSoundLosMult 0. 4
setgs fSneakMaxDistance 60
setgs fSneakEquippedWeightBase -4
setgs fDetectionViewCone 190
With this .esm, I left fHostileActorExteriorDistance halfway between Vanilla and PEAK rather than fully Vanilla; you can get wayyyy too close to exterior NPCs by default. That's why this is "mostly vanilla stealth" and not " vanilla stealth".
This is compatible with any combat mod, as I did not tweak the PEAK exclusive values, just the ones found in the vanilla Starfield.esm.
Created because sometimes I don't want things to be so hard when playing with

A lightweight .esm patch that reverts most stealth settings to vanilla values, designed for players using combat overhauls that alter stealth too aggressively. Load it after your combat mod to restore balanced stealth behavior. With 44 endorsements and nearly 20k downloads, it's a niche but proven fix.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny patch that does exactly what it says—no bloat, just fixes stealth values
- Solid track record with 44 endorsements and nearly 20k downloads, so it's been tested by the community
- Works with any combat overhaul that messes with stealth, giving you control over your game balance
⚠️ Cons
- Only reverts 'most' stealth settings—some tweaks from your combat mod might still slip through
- Requires you to have a combat overhaul that changes stealth in the first place, so it's useless if you play vanilla
- No updates since December 2023, so it might not be compatible with newer mods or game patches
For players who love combat overhauls but hate when they mess with stealth mechanics. If you're running something like Wildcat or Ordinator and find stealth too punishing or too easy, this patch brings it back to baseline. Skip it if you play with vanilla stealth or don't use combat overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place this .esm after your combat overhaul in your load order—use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to ensure it loads correctly.
- If you're using a mod that also tweaks stealth, like Stealth Skills Rebalanced, test in-game to see if the patch overrides it as intended.
- Since it's an .esm, it will load early, but load order still matters—double-check with LOOT if you're unsure.
