What is this mod?

This mod provides a terminal to facilitate a way to refund your spent skill points to re-specialize.

Installation

Start by making a save outside The Lodge before installing the mod. If you install it while in The Lodge you cannot interact with the terminal until leaving and returning.

Getting Started

There is a permanent placed terminal in the basement at The Lodge. It is on the wall under the weapon rack immediately to your right after you come down the stairs. You can also find a buildable workshop item under the Miscellaneous section at outposts, on your ship, or a player home.

You interact with the terminal and choose which category of skills to refund. If you choose the "Everything" option it will take a few seconds to do its work before proceeding to the completion notice. All of the other single category options are pretty quick.

There is currently no cost to refund your points.

Reapplying a point to a previously acquired skill does not require you to do any rank up progression challenges that you may have already done.

Information for other mod authors

The following is information for other authors or users who want to add support for additional skills added from other mods. Doing this is fairly simple utilizing the xEdit script in the additional files section. A manual explanation is also provided at the end.

For this documentation I will assume a patch file is being made and you have an understanding of how to use xEdit.

How this system works

Since Papyrus has no way of asking the system what rank of a perk a reference has I had to utilize the new Condition Forms. To do this each form specifically checks for exactly a certain rank so that I can determine precisely which rank a perk is at. This means that for a 4 rank perk there are 4 condition forms that need to be checked.

The setup script (which is part of the template) will take a property that identifies a category and group. For example Science as the category and Basic as the group. In this property is an array of struct which defines an entry for the condition form to check, which perk it's related to, and what rank it is for. As there are a default 20 combinations for the 4 groups x 5 skill categories there are 20 property arrays.

When the setup script on the template copy runs it takes the properties configured and asks the main management quest to add the new structs of data to its list.
