📋 About This Mod

🎉Yet another mod from me that's based entirely around showing notifications!!🎉

The mod shows a notification when you land on a planet, or use a specific custom item, with a few pieces of information:

  • []how long the day is and/or how long until sunrise/sunset (if the planet has them), in either UT-hours or real time[/]

[]if the planet/moon is tidally locked[/]

Pick which kind of messages you want in the gameplay options. Now scroll up and look at the images here. What more could you need to know?

    New in V1. 1 2. 0:

    • []You can now trigger the messages whenever you like via an aid item ("Universal Sundial"). You should get one automatically, but if you lose it you can get another from the Lodge basement (near the mission board - let me know if this is a bad location due to mod conflicts or whatever). I don't want to add unwanted inventory clutter so It's weightless, worthless, easily droppable, and replaces itself when used so you only need to carry one.[/]

[]I also added more options for controlling which messages display on landing & sundial use (which don't have to be the same).[/]

[]Real time messages will switch to real hours after 359 minutes (for instance on Venus, which otherwise had an unhelpful 23,328-minute day). Game time is always "Hours (UT)" to distinguish the unit.[/]

[]Feel free to stick with the original one if you're happy with it, it will remain available. (V1. 1 turned out to be very broken and has been eliminated)[/]

Don't forget to check out the gameplay settings!

!! A dumb decision I made that may break 'upgrading' from V1 to V2 !!

Internally, it's basically an entirely new mod. But I foolishly left the filename and certain items inside it unchanged... so Starfield won't treat it as if it's new. Which means the game will load it but not actually start it, so you might not get any messages. If this is happening to you:

      • []Apparently - I haven't tested this but I trust the commenter - travelling to an unexplored planet may start it. (Possibly because this uses the long landing animation.)[/]

[]Fiddly but "guaranteed" - make a save without the mod running, and then re-enable it (i.e. save, exit, remove mod, load, save, exit, enable mod, load)[/]

[]Manually start the quest via the console if you've enabled it - "help DayLengthMessage" should find an item "QUST bhu_DayLengthMessageQuest" with an 8-character ID that will probably end in -98A4. "startquest XXXXXXX" (using the whole ID) will silently kick-start it. (You can also check its status with "sqv " which which should say "running" somewhere instead of "stopped".)[/]

Once it's working it will keep working, so you should only have
