Real Fuel - Immersive Exploration

Fuel is withdrawn from your Fuel Tanks when travelling between Star Systems.

Usage will vary depending on distance from the Core Systems as well as your ship and skills.

In-system Grav Jumps consume a very small amount of fuel.

Using Cruise Mode does not consume fuel.

There may be some variance between shown and consumed fuel.

Refueling can be performed in several ways:

• At Ship Services - just talk to the guy and he'll fix you up.

• Purchase directly from Starstations or nearby Settlements via SmartFuel.

• Consume Helium-3 directly from your hold via SmartFuel.

• Use Ship Fuel - found as loot, at vendors, or through crafting - via SmartFuel.

• Siphon fuel from docked ships - although, this is a crime in the Settled Systems, so be careful!

• Activate Harvesters or Gas Storage at your outposts containing Helium-3.

Ship Fuel

Ship Fuel canisters can be crafted, bought from vendors, found in destroyed ships, or found in Cargo Holds.

Ship Fuel has a higher Fuel to Mass ratio than loose Helium-3.

SmartFuel™

A new prompt will be available on your ship's Cargo panel.

Activating this prompt will intelligently find the best Refueling method available.

In priority order, it will attempt to:

• Detect if you are Docked with a previously piloted ship (e.g. while Commandeering a new ship).

• Purchase fuel from a valid docked Starstation or a City/Settlement you are currently Moored at.

• Utilize Helium-3 in its gaseous form from the Cargo Hold.

• Utilize Ship Fuel items in the Cargo Hold.

SmartFuel will perform whichever of these actions is available.

Siphoning can be performed from the Siphon prompt on the Cargo Panel.

This will attempt to draw fuel from a docked vessel.

It is illegal to Siphon fuel from non-hostile vessels, so use this feature wisely.

You may also find items that allow you to Siphon without being detected.

Exploration

Fast Travel to other planets or systems is only available when in space or in the Pilot's Seat of your vessel.

Using a Map Console on your ship overrides these limitations.

Streamlined Mode

Streamlined Mode can be enabled via the Gameplay Options.

In this mode, Fast Travel to other planets or systems is available from settlements or anytime you are onboard your ship.

Emergency Jump

Anytime your fuel is Low, you can enable Emergency Jump by using the prompt on the Pilot's Seat of your ship.
