📋 About This Mod
Version 2. 1 release!
This release contains a few new features:
-
[]Fixes a rare issue with default crates which can't be disabled, thus would replicate until you left the cell. NOTE: These rare crates will no be lootable, unfortunately. The easiest location to observe this is at Anchorpoint Station - look in the crew quarters and the medical area, you'll find 4 total unlootable beer crates. There's lots of beer in the universe, though.[/]
[]Corrected the misbehavior with the new Elevated Cabin outpost structure. Apparently, when you are placing a new outpost structure it is fully rendered, including the furnishings inside. This meant if you placed the cabin and the loop fired, the new crates would drop to the ground. You'd see similar behavior if you destroyed or moved the cabin - the replaced crates would fall out. This no longer happens.[/]
[]New water sources! I took the opportunity to go ahead and add three different water sources to the mod: Water Coolers (the black/silver ones, pretty common), Water Dispensers (green/silver, pretty rare), and Water Filtration Carts (little carts with tanks and filters, uncommon). If you want to see all three, the easiest location to find them is at Neon. There's a cooler right outside the Ranger station (left of the door), a cart right outside of Reliant Medical (to the right of the door), and a dispenser outside of Chunks (in Ebb Side, across from Euphoria). The cooler and dispenser are presumably attached to the water system for wherever they are, so will dispense as much Distilled Water as you want. The carts are mobile, so the tank has a limited amount - but always at least one.[/]
Huge thanks to ArgoHorizon for both reporting the Anchorpoint problem and testing the new version!
Install/update
However you normally install or update. I do always recommend a new save and some testing before you fully commit to an update for any mod - just to make sure.

Now dynamically replaces the crates as they are encountered. How it works:
[]Uses a custom background quest and a pair of scripts, one on the quest and one on the replacement object[/]
[]Quest script: Replaces all of the crates it finds within a decent radius from the player when a new cell loads. I couldn't find any hard data on how big a loaded area might be, so it also checks every 30 seconds for anything that might need to be replaced.[/]
[*]Object script: When the cell unloads, the object removes itself and brings the static object back. It even matches the geometry, in ca

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Simple and effective: turns boring static props into useful loot sources.
- Decent community support with 86 endorsements and over 8,300 downloads.
- Recently updated (April 2026), so likely compatible with current game version.
⚠️ Cons
- Limited scope: only affects produce crates, beer crates, and three water sources.
- Potential compatibility issues with other mods that alter the same containers.
For players who enjoy looting and want more interactive world objects. Great for survival or crafting-focused playthroughs. Skip if you prefer static decorations or don't care about extra loot.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check if the mod requires a mod manager or manual installation; if manual, just drop the files into your Data folder.
- If you use other mods that change container behavior, load this one after them to ensure its changes take effect.
- Test in a new game or after loading a save to ensure the containers appear as lootable.
