📋 About This Mod

Summary

This mod provides a series of 7 missions to find and stop a faction that wants the PC dead. The first mission starts when you find orders for your death and the recovery and transport of your corpse. These can come through either a radiant encounter with Ecliptic ships, or by finding the orders on Ecliptic leaders.

Initially, your enemies are Ecliptic mercenaries. But those mercenaries work for somebody. When the mod starts for the first time, you pick the faction that is has a reason to come after you (you can also choose not to know and the mod will randomize it). Note that this doesn't make the whole faction hostile, it just means that someone powerful within that faction is trying to kill you.

Narratively, I wrote this to complement the 'wanted' trait (although the mod works just fine regardless of what traits the PC has), and to provide a little bit more of an explanation for why the PC is different from the rest of humanity.

Playing the mod

When the mod first loads, it will add the note '(HtH) Journal Entry' to your inventory. You need to read this in order to set the faction that is hunting you. Please do this as soon as possible after installing the mod.

The targets in this mod may be higher level than the player when the mission starts. I made this mod to provide a set of long term challenges. For myself, I find that I am more motivated to level up and improve my gear and my ship if there is a specific reason I need to get better. Having a mission to find and kill a high level enemy provides that.

Some of the later missions may lead to fights in 'civilized' areas. If you absolutely do not want your PC to rack up a bounty having a gunfight in a major city, choose Va'ruun as your enemy faction.

Installation/Unstallation/Updating

This should install the same as any other mod. It contains only the esm (small master) and the scripts that are needed to make the quests work. I strongly recommend the BSA version for ease of use and reliability.

It should be fine to overwrite and old version of the mod with an updated version (please remove any loose scripts if you are changing from a loose files version to a bsa version - the game will use those scripts in preference to the ones that it finds in the BSA). The updates probably won't take effect on any quests that are currently loaded, but the next quest to load should be the updated version. You can also use the troubleshooting tool to manually reset a particular quest.

The mod should uninstall without any problems. Just to be safe though, it's probably best not to uninstall it and then load a save that was taken inside one of the quest locations, but they are all vanilla game locations so in theory even that should be ok.

For players who enjoy quest mods that add a personal vendetta and a hunt-down-the-bad-guys structure. If you're looking for a quick, self-contained quest with a revenge theme, this could be a good fit. Skip if you prefer large-scale questlines or need detailed documentation before installing.
