📋 About This Mod
This mod adds wearable headlamps that can be switched on and off like the spacesuit helmet lights, for use when your helmet is hidden, avoiding the immersion-breaking issue of the invisible light source.
Available in two models: Headlamps 01 and Headlamps 02. Model 01 is from the Settler Adventure Hat/Sam Coe's hat, whereas Model 02 is from the Settler Casual Hat.
How to get the items:
- Craft them at the industrial workbench at the hefty cost of one iron each. Look for the entries starting with ZYL.
- Or, get the headlamps by using the console command. Get the ID by typing:
help ZYL 4 armo, then get the item by typing: player.additem xxxxxxxx 1
Download the main file via a mod manager.
Once you have a stable-ish load order, I highly recommend this mod, which allows you to equip and unequip the headlamps with a customisable hotkey.
LIMITATIONS AND WORKAROUNDS
- The headlamps don't have a morph, so they may not fit some head shapes.
- The headlamps work best with long hairstyles without a lot of fringes obscuring the forehead.
- Headlamp 02 has an incomplete band that doesn't go around the head, so it's not compatible with some short or bald hairstyles.
Workaround: Wear the Headlamp 02 together with a beanie such as the Akila Security Hat, UC Navy Hat, or Space Trucker Haul Wrap. (Headlamp 01 doesn't look nice with the hats.)
- The headlamps will be visible when piloting the ship in first person. Workaround: Take the headlamps off before flying. It's a hazard when the airbags deploy.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real immersion gripe—no more flashlight-from-nowhere when your helmet's tucked away
- Simple toggle mechanic that feels natural if you're used to spacesuit lights
- Solid community traction: 142 endorsements and 34k downloads show it's filling a need
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated June 2025—might not be patched for future game updates, so keep an eye out
- Only one item type (headlamp) and no visual customization mentioned—it's a one-trick pony
For Starfield players who hate the floating-light glitch when their helmet is hidden and want a lore-friendly fix. Also great for screenshot enthusiasts who want visible light sources in character shots. Skip if you're after full armor overhauls or gameplay changes—this is a focused utility mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're using a mod manager, just drop the file in and activate—no load order fuss for simple item mods like this.
- Test the headlamp with different helmet-hiding settings to make sure the light source behaves as expected.
- Check the mod page for any patches if you're running other helmet or lighting mods—conflicts can cause the light to reappear.
