📋 About This Mod
I've seen this commented on a couple of times: why does building the armillary in your outpost cause you to jump to Unity when you are told it has to be connected to your grav drive to do so?
xtcrefugee found that forcing a global variable to zero prevented the armillary from hijacking the grab drive, but the method relied on using the console to reset the variable at a specific time, and the timing is very tight. My reflexes aren't that good, and I wanted things to be handled automatically.
After a number of fruitless attempts to fix the broken behavior I decided to just short circuit the whole thing by changing the global variable that tells the game "I've completed the armillary" to a constant, with the value set at "I have NOT finished it yet". This lets you build the spinny whatsit on your ship or at an outpost and you will never grav jump to Unity.

[]Remove any armillaries, complete or partial.
[
]Enable this mod.[]Build the armillary wherever you want.
[]Jump where you please.
AND it's not permanent. Remove your armillary, disable the mod, and build a new one. Jump to Unity.
This does NOT hide the quest. It will keep telling you to build the armillary on your ship. Deal with it until we get a quest hiding mod (which I'm surprised hasn't been made already, given the annoying habit of Activity quests constantly making themselves active.)
This Starfield mod lets you build the Armillary on your ship or outpost without being forced to grav jump to Unity. It removes the automatic Unity jump trigger, giving you freedom to build without the story progression. Simple gameplay tweak for players who want the Armillary without the forced ending.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny but useful tweak for players who want the Armillary without the forced ending (51 endorsements).
- Does exactly what it says – no more accidental Unity jumps when building.
- Lightweight and focused, doesn't touch anything else.
⚠️ Cons
- Small mod with limited reach (51 endorsements) – might not be widely tested.
- Only affects the Armillary build trigger – if you're looking for broader gameplay changes, this isn't it.
- Potential compatibility risk with other mods that alter the Armillary or Unity quest triggers.
For Starfield players who want to build the Armillary for decoration or roleplay without being forced into the Unity ending. Also for those who want to delay the main story but still have the Armillary in their base. Skip if you're fine with the vanilla behavior or want more substantial gameplay overhauls.
