📋 About This Mod
Hard edit of companion actors to make use of ammo in their inventory...
A hard edit to companion actors, so they make use of ammo in their inventory.
Because balancing and at the same time not ruining core features is a sword with two edges. Initially I thought removing all ammo loot would be a good idea, so I created scarcity all across the board. Then I realized I already changed that for Fallout 4 as well, and applied a new philosophy. This includes: make enemy combatants not lose their armor and weapons(because I've never seen anyone robbing dead people of their clothes on the battlefield), increase the chance of not finding any extra or legendary loot on their body, and the change to make followers use ammo.
This claps two flys with one swatter. It majorily increases item economy difficulty, and at the same time allows me to tranquilize my addiction of having to loot everything I possibly can find. Mui grind brain always gets a major depression when opening empty stashes.
Their aim is miserable at best! They're going to burn through my ammo faster than I can refill!
I know. There's plenty of options regardless. You'll find ways to make proper use of them. In late-mid to late game your concernes no longer hold truth.
How did you do it and why?
Quick and dirty totally "best practice" ignoring hard hack of the companions actors, which had a keyword applied, so they don't use ammo. Applying those changes by script might be more elegant and "better practice", whatever that may be, but I prefer the old school way simply because it allows me to actually see the changes in xEdit, and patch accordingly in my Master Patch. So for me personally that is the "best practice" way. That's no skill competition here after all, right?
Any knowen conflicts?
Yes, the unofficial patch fixes that one companion not correctly having the keyword applied. Just make sure to load this mod after the SFUP.
How to install?
Done with currently experimental xEdit, so mind the risk!
According to the developers of Mo2 -> drag&drop, Vortex the same. But if you want to do it full yolo hardcore, do it manually this way:
1. download Plugin enabler and install per instructions
2. add this to your load order .txt file(without quotes) "*CUA_CompanionUseAmmo.esm"
3. move the file inside the .zip to your Starfield/Data folder
4. blatantly ignore anything said about MyGames in the past
I want to report a bug!
