What does this mod do?
Better Locational Damage is an advanced headshot mod that enhances combat realism by making headshots lethal and introducing a head destruction mechanic. Unarmored enemies (humans with no helmet) can be killed instantly with a single shot, while armored foes require multiple hits to break through their protection before a fatal shot can be delivered. The mod also allows customization, letting players choose between instant kills or the more progressive damage system, called Head Destruction.
Head health represents a percentage of an NPC's maximum health. For example, if head health is set to 30%, you must deal damage equal to 30% of the NPC's total health to the head to instantly kill them with a headshot.
Key features
Headshot
A well-placed shot can be deadly. If an enemy isn’t wearing a helmet, a single shot to the head will kill them swiftly and painlessly.
Head Destruction
Damage to the head reduces its health. Once head health reaches zero, the head is destroyed. For enemies wearing spacesuits, multiple shots (around 3–4 with StarValor) are needed to break through their protection before delivering a lethal shot. This simulates damaging and destroying their helmet until the bullet penetrates and kills them.
If you don’t like instant headshots, you can disable them and use only the Head Destruction mechanic.
Gameplay Options
This mod also includes Gameplay Options, allowing you to toggle the mechanics on and off, disable the one-shot headshot mechanic for humans, and turn off the head destruction mechanic for selected creatures (enabled by default). I highly recommend checking them out and reading the descriptions!
