Description α (Alpha) Centauri is the closest stellar system after our solar system, 4. 37 light years away from the Sun, it is situated in the constellation of Centaurus, It should technically mean that we should know more about this system than any other systems in the Milky way galaxy. Alpha Centauri is a triple star system composing of 3 known stars, 2 confirmed exoplanets, 3 candidate exoplanets and 1 unconfirmed (not real) exoplanet : Stars ↳ α Centauri A or Rigil Kentaurus, binary with α Centauri B, a G0 V type star, it is slightly larger than our Sun, it is the system's main star ↳ α Centauri B or Toliman, binary with α Centauri A, a K1 V type star, it is slightly smaller than our Sun ↳ α Centauri C or Proxima Centauri, orbits very far away from the binary A and B with a period of around 549 600 years, it is a M5. 5 V type star, this is the closest star after our Sun with a distance of only 4. 246 light years Planets of α Centauri A ↳ α Centauri A has one candidate planet known as α Centauri A b or Rigil Kentaurus b orbiting around it. Artist impression of α Centauri A b Planets of α Centauri B α Centauri B has 2 proposed candidate planets, one being unconfirmed orbiting around it : ↳ α Centauri B b or Toliman b (Unconfirmed) Artist impression of α Centauri B b ↳ α Centauri B c or Toliman c (Forgotten candidate), this candidate planet has lack of information, only having the radius and period being proposed, it was discovered by a posssible Transit event. Planets of α Centauri C (Proxima Centauri) α Centauri C or Proxima Centauri has 2 confirmed exoplanets planets and one candidat
