📋 About This Mod
From a wiki: "Three burnt corpses around a carriage. A stray dog nearby and possibly a dragon".
But for me the dragon is always missing, already dead, or dropping dead after a short zombie flight.
Who killed the dragon? The dog? The wrath of the Gods? Did it take its own life, consumed with guilt and grief?
This provides a more lively beast; enjoy and rejoice.
In the MCM version the vanilla dragon-encounter cool-down timer (you normally need to wait three days after a fight to be able to trigger another dragon-spawning quest -- six days after having completed the "Dragonslayer" quest) is ignored and replaced by a menu setting.
Slider value: The chance of allowing the encounter when the Story Manager randomly tries to trigger it.
0% = No chance: Encounter disabled.
100% = No restriction: The encounter is always allowed, no matter whether you just fought another dragon somewhere else.
The normal version just allows the dragon to be alive (not for much longer, I hope.)
So, on the road again!
This mod enhances Skyrim's road encounter where a dog mourns its dead master after a dragon attack, replacing the corpse with a live dragon. It includes an optional MCM version to adjust encounter chance, bypassing the dragon-spawn cooldown. Ideal for players seeking more dynamic and dangerous world encounters.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Turns a sad, static scene into a thrilling fight—good for players who want more action.
- MCM integration gives you control over encounter frequency, so you can tune it to your liking.
- Solid community backing with 282 endorsements and over 40k downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects one specific encounter, so its impact on the overall game is limited.
- The MCM version requires SkyUI and SKSE, which some players avoid.
- Potential compatibility issues with mods that alter dragon spawns or road encounters.
For Skyrim players who enjoy dynamic world encounters and want to turn a somber moment into a combat challenge. Also for modders who like tweaking encounter rates via MCM. Skip if you prefer lore-friendly, non-combat encounters or don't use MCM mods.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use the MCM version, make sure you have SkyUI and SKSE installed, and load it after other encounter mods.
- Test the encounter by fast-traveling to a known dragon attack site—if the dragon doesn't appear, check your load order.
- Use the MCM to set a low chance if you don't want dragons spawning too often, especially early game.
