📋 About This Mod
Description
Complex Material is a new way to introduce more complex glossy-spec based shading and parallax.
The environment map mask texture was repurposed to make use of each channel, to include any necessary maps for glossy spec shading.
PBR (Physically Based Rendering) is an approach for materials and rendering that creates more accurate and predictable results than vanilla rendering techniques, and works very well with dynamic lighting conditions (like time-of-day).
This addon will ensures that materials like metal, wood, and fabric behave consistently under different lighting conditions. Improving the textures with reflectiveness, roughness, metallic shade, and parallax.

This mod adds PBR and Complex material support to NordwarUA's Vanilla Armor Replacer, enhancing the visual quality of armor textures in Skyrim Special Edition. It's a compatibility patch that requires the base mod and is aimed at players using ENB or other PBR-compatible setups. With 140 endorsements and frequent updates, it's a niche but well-received addition for visual modding enthusiasts.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 140 endorsements and nearly 46k downloads.
- Actively maintained, last updated August 2025.
- Breathes new life into NordwarUA's already popular armor replacer.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires the base mod and a PBR-capable ENB, so it's not a standalone upgrade.
- Potential conflicts with other texture overhauls that modify the same armor meshes.
- Niche appeal—only worth it if you're already deep into visual modding.
For Skyrim modders who use NordwarUA's Vanilla Armor Replacer and want to push visuals further with PBR materials. If you're not using an ENB with PBR support, this won't do much for you. Skip if you prefer simpler texture mods without extra dependencies.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have a PBR-compatible ENB preset installed, otherwise the new materials won't render correctly.
- Load this mod after the base Vanilla Armor Replacer in your mod manager to ensure the textures overwrite properly.
- Check the mod page for any required patches if you use other armor mods that alter the same meshes.
