Vanargand Animations II - Unarmed Pugilism Stance is an animation mod for Skyrim that replaces all unarmed movement animations with a pugilism stance. It requires Open Animation Replacer and has strong community support with 4,623 endorsements and 1.2 million downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Massive community trust (4,623 endorsements, 1.2M downloads) — this is a proven animation overhaul.
- Covers every movement type (idle, turns, walks, strafes, runs, sprints) so your unarmed stance feels cohesive.
- Simple install: just drop it in with Open Animation Replacer and you're set.
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects unarmed/fists-out movement — if you want combat animations, this isn't it.
- Requires Open Animation Replacer, so you need to set that up first if you haven't already.
- Last updated in January 2024 — might not be updated for the latest Skyrim patches, though OAR usually keeps things compatible.
For Skyrim players who want a more aggressive, boxer-like stance when fighting unarmed. Great for monk or brawler builds. Skip if you rarely fight without weapons or prefer a more subtle animation change.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Open Animation Replacer installed and enabled before adding this mod, or the animations won't trigger.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to install — it's just a drop-in folder, but a manager keeps things clean.
- If you're using other animation mods, check load order — OAR handles conflicts dynamically, but keep this mod active for unarmed stances.
