📋 About This Mod

SUMMARY

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This is a simple texture replacer. No esp. It reuses vanilla SE textures, mainly those you see in the reach. There should be no negative performance impact. Or any impact.

The result is a greener 'tundra'. Only the orange/yellow tundra textures are replaced. So no other areas should be affected.

Maybe orange/yellow is realistic. But I think green looks nicer. A little saturation boost makes it much nicer.

"But tundra's aren't green!"

Whatever, I thought it looked nice

TWO VERSIONS - Just install one

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. BASIC: Normal/Standard version. Textures are a bit more varied in this.

2. MORE MOSS: Uses the reach moss texture more extensively. It's greener/more uniform. Closer to the concept art. But maybe a bit too much of the same for some?

Performance wise no difference.

Compability-wise this mod will either overwrite or get overwritten by any other texture mod that affects the same area. Depends on where you place it in the load order.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This mod does not edit the tundra lod. Which means the lod wont be green. You can see it on some the screenshots. You probably want to fix that shit.

Terrain LOD redone has a green lod for the Whiterun area:

For Oldrim there's a greener lod mod.

xLODGEN can be use to generate terrain lod as well.

If you've got a good solution to the LOD-problem feel free to tell me. I'll add it to the description.

Added some screens for comparison.

I mainly just work with Oldrim due to a severe case of shitty computer. I probably won't be of much help for any SE questions.

This mod is very simple though, so there's not really much that can go wrong.

Since it's a texture replacement you can just uninstall whenever, if you don't like it.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Tundra Texture Transplant replaces Skyrim SE's orange/yellow Whiterun tundra textures with greener versions, reusing vanilla Reach textures for a subtle visual change. It offers two variants (Basic and More Moss) with no performance impact, but does not alter LODs, so distant terrain remains brown. Ideal for players wanting a greener tundra without new assets.

✨ Key Features

Replaces only the orange/yellow tundra textures with greener versions, leaving other areas unaffected.
Two versions: Basic (more varied) and More Moss (greener, closer to concept art).
No ESP file and no performance impact, as it reuses vanilla textures.
Compatible with other texture mods depending on load order placement.
Does not edit LODs, so distant tundra remains brown unless using a separate LOD mod.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Simple texture swap with zero performance hit—just drop it in and go.
  • Two flavors to pick from: Basic for variety or More Moss for that concept-art look.
  • Community-approved with 648 endorsements and over 13k downloads, so plenty of players dig it.

⚠️ Cons

  • LODs aren't touched, so you'll see a jarring brown-green pop-in unless you grab a separate LOD mod.
  • Only affects the tundra—if you wanted a full landscape overhaul, this won't cut it.
  • Compatibility is load-order dependent; other texture mods touching the same area will overwrite or get overwritten.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim SE players who think the Whiterun tundra looks too barren and want a quick, performance-friendly visual tweak. If you're a modding purist who hates mismatched LODs, you'll need to pair this with a LOD fix. Skip if you want a full landscape overhaul or if you're fine with the vanilla orange.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Pick one version—Basic or More Moss—and install only that, not both.
  • If you're using a mod manager, place this after other landscape texture mods to ensure it takes priority.
  • To fix the LOD mismatch, grab Terrain LOD Redone (Nexus mod 9135) or generate your own with xLODGEN.
