📋 About This Mod
60+ new Sound Effects to revitalize and breathe life into the ambience of towns, cities, and villages.
Listen to people chattering, blacksmiths working, dogs barking, clothes flapping, bells ringing, rats squealing, shutters rattling, and much more!
Uses Sound Record Distributor and carefully placed sound markers.
Sounds have specific conditions to trigger at different times of day and for different weather types.
100% Compatible with everything.
STC uses carefully placed sound markers in all towns, cities, and villages. Using this method ensures the sounds are heard where they are meant to be heard and at a specific distance.
However, Sound Markers have a problem with meeting conditions dynamically, so a cell change or save/reload may be required in order for the sounds attached to markers to work properly.
Sounds attached to markers change with time of day.
Day - 6am to 6pm
Evening - 6pm to 9pm
Night - 9pm to 6am
All sounds added to regions via SRD will have no issues following conditions in the same cell.
Recommended to use with Selective Silent Music Options in order to mute music in towns.
100% Compatible with everything.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust with 2,951 endorsements and 1.1M downloads
- Hand-placed markers mean sounds are exactly where they should be, not random
- Lightweight audio mod that doesn't touch gameplay or visuals
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Sound Record Distributor as a dependency, so you'll need to grab that first
- Only affects towns, cities, and villages – wilderness and dungeons are untouched
- Last updated in September 2024 – may not be compatible with future game patches
For players who want to feel the hustle and bustle of settlements without overhauling the whole game. If you're tired of silent towns and want ambient noise that fits the setting, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for combat or quest changes – this is purely audio.

- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to handle installation and load order automatically.
- If you're playing Skyrim, check that your game version matches the mod's requirements – outdated mods can cause issues.
