📋 About This Mod
Subtle Shoulder preset is my personal custom smoothcam preset that features a behind-the-shoulder third-person view with only subtle interpolation. It was made with the design philosophy of focusing on the RPG aspect of roleplaying as your character, i.e. trying to bring the perks of first-person gameplay (immersion and roleplaying) into a third-person camera view. Therefore, the camera is as close to the character as possible while still maintaining comfortable third-person gameplay.

Notes on customization:
I personally play on an ultrawide monitor. If you play on a non-ultrawide monitor and find that your character stands too far to the edge of the screen, you just need to change the Side Offsets to a lower number in the Third Person Offsets menu.
If you want to use a different preset slot, just change the number at the end SKSE/plugins/SmoothCamPreset0.json.
I use this preset personally so I won't be responding to custom requests unless it's a bug/oversight on certain offsets.
A SmoothCam preset for Skyrim that positions the camera over the shoulder with subtle interpolation for a more natural, less floaty feel. With 121 endorsements and 28,472 downloads, it's a niche but popular choice for players seeking a refined third-person view without drastic changes.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-tested with 121 endorsements and 28,472 downloads, so it's proven to work for many players.
- Subtle interpolation means you get smooth camera movement without the nauseating floaty feel some presets have.
- It's a simple drop-in preset—no complex setup, just install and go.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SmoothCam as a dependency, so you need to install that mod first.
- Only offers one specific camera style—if you want more customization, you'll need to tweak it yourself.
- Last updated in 2022, so it may not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or other camera mods.
For Skyrim players who use SmoothCam and want a more grounded, over-the-shoulder camera without the exaggerated motion. If you're tired of the default camera or other presets that feel too floaty, this is a solid pick. Skip if you don't use SmoothCam or prefer a more dynamic, action-oriented camera.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure SmoothCam is installed and active before adding this preset, or it won't work.
- If you're using a mod manager, you can preview the preset in-game by toggling SmoothCam's settings to see the difference.
- If the camera feels too subtle or too strong, you can adjust the interpolation values in the SmoothCam MCM menu to fine-tune it.
