Starfrost - A Survival Overhaul

Starfrost is a complete overhaul of Survival Mode designed to integrate Survival mechanics into Simonrim with the least amount of tedium possible. This allows players to benefit from the many positive changes that Survival Mode makes to the flow of Skyrim’s gameplay without subjecting them to layers of tedious mechanics or dozens of spam messages about how hungry they are. Instead, Starfrost introduces Survival mechanics that are just harsh enough to produce their intended effects on the game, and no more. This approach, which I describe as Survival Lite, leverages the natural buy-in that players bring to these mechanics to produce a Survival experience that you won’t be tempted to shut off half-way through your game. This approach also makes Starfrost suitable for players who have previously bounced off more aggressive Survival setups, such as Frostfall.

Starfrost integrates its Survival mechanics into the Simonrim suite of gameplay mods. Most importantly, Starfrost takes the Injury Mechanic from Blade & Blunt - A Combat Overhaul and transforms it into a fourth major Survival need (in addition to Exhaustion, Hunger, and Cold). In addition, the Hunger mechanic in Starfrost differs from the approach taken by “Vanilla” Survival, since it is designed around the long-lasting buffs provided by Gourmet - A Food Overhaul. There are several other Survival Lite mods in the Simonrim Suite, including Journeyman - A Fast Travel Overhaul and Candlehearth - An Inn Overhaul. These mods are recommended for a complete experience, but in no way required.
