📋 About This Mod
This mod makes it so switches (that being levers, buttons, pullchains, etc.) glow a light cyan when Clairvoyance is cast. Trap triggers (pressure plates, tripwires, weighted pedestals) glow red instead.
The switch lights will periodically pulse green, while the trap lights will pulse a brighter red.
This is strongly inspired by Dungeons Interactable Visual Aid (D. I. V. A) by xndrive. If you want the lights to be permanent, or use ENB, consider using their mod instead.
The loadorder does not matter for this mod.
The lights that appear when the spell is cast are real lights, and as such they will affect NPC detection.
I might add lights to keys or chests (when dual casting) in the future.
Compatibility
If a mod uses the vanilla assets for it's switches (the vast majority of them), then it should just work. If a mod uses it's own models and it's not already covered, do let me know, so I can add it.
So far the following are covered:
-
[]Project AHO
[
]Sirenroot[]Hidden DB Entrances (suspicions rock)
[]Children of the North Wind (bronze pedestal trap)
This mod is done entirely with Light Placer and a little bit of SkyPatcher, so compatibility should be good. The only issue I can think of would be if a mod made the vanilla Clairvoyance spell fire and forget, or somehow inaccessible.
Note that this mod is made for Community Shaders (with Inverse Square Lighting) and probably will not work with ENB, but I have not tested it.
How It Works
I used Light Placer to attach lights to the objects. The lights are only active if the player has the ShineMagicClairvoyance keyword (for switches) and / or the ShineMagicDangersense keyword (for traps). I also added a Magic Effect that applies both keywords. It's then added onto the vanilla Clairvoyance spell by SkyPatcher, to avoid issues with mods that also modify the spell, like Mysticism.
You can add the keywords to any other magic effect and it should just work.
Special Thanks
Big thanks to QuietEyez for the idea.Big thanks to xndrive again for the inspiration.
I'm a bit bad at checking Nexus comments, so if, for whatever reason, you want to talk to me, you can find me in JaySerpa's Discord Server.
Spell Object Shine makes switches glow cyan and trap triggers glow red when Clairvoyance is cast, with pulsing effects. Built with Light Placer and SkyPatcher, it supports Community Shaders and several modded locations. A lightweight utility for players who want clearer dungeon navigation.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny footprint with 73 endorsements and over 12k downloads—clearly a niche hit.
- Real lights that pulse add a dynamic feel, not just static highlights.
- Plays nice with most mods since it uses vanilla assets and Light Placer.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Community Shaders with Inverse Square Lighting—ENB users are out of luck.
- Only covers a handful of modded locations; other custom meshes might not glow.
- Real lights affect NPC detection, which could break stealth if you're not careful.
For Skyrim players who want a practical, spell-based way to spot switches and traps without permanent markers. If you're using Community Shaders and want a lightweight alternative to D.I.V.A, this is for you. Skip if you use ENB or prefer permanent highlights.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure Community Shaders and Inverse Square Lighting are installed and active before adding this mod.
- Since load order doesn't matter, you can drop it anywhere in your mod list, but keep it after any mods that alter Clairvoyance.
- If you're using ENB, this won't work—consider D.I.V.A instead for permanent lights.
