📋 About This Mod
This is the Skyrim Special Edition version, the Legendary Edition version can be found here
New lore friendly higher quality textures for the Black Briar & Honningbew Meads 1024x2048 (x8 originals at 128x256) in x2 styles and multiple colors, optional bottle texture
My screenshots were taken in Nifskope and resized to fit nexus which ruins the quality of the images so the images don't do the textures justice.
After working on the retextures for the Interesting NPCs mod's Mogo's Meads I decided to match the Skyrim meads style to them in 1024x2048 (x8 the size of the originals which were 128x256) following the vanilla designs
I know my textures aren't the very best (hence the name of all my texture mods) I won't say these are the best even as my skills improve because I don't want to over promise and under deliver) but I am trying to improve and I feel like I am slowly improving. I also take requests for overlooked items (of which in Skyrim there aren't many modders haven't already done wonders on) to help me improve my skills and to help give new textures to overlooked items.

Reb's Average Meads SE is a lore-friendly texture overhaul for Black Briar and Honningbrew meads in Skyrim Special Edition, offering 1024x2048 resolution in two styles and multiple colors, with an optional bottle texture. It's a simple, visual-only enhancement for players who want higher-quality mead bottles without changing gameplay.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Lore-friendly textures that fit Skyrim's aesthetic without breaking immersion
- Two style options and multiple colors give you flexibility to match your load order
- Solid community support with 113 endorsements and over 5,600 downloads
⚠️ Cons
- Only covers two mead types—if you use mods that add new meads, they won't get this treatment
- Last updated in September 2022, so it may not be actively maintained for future game patches
- Texture-only mod—no mesh or model changes, so bottle shapes remain vanilla
For Skyrim players who want a quick, lore-friendly visual upgrade to the most common mead bottles without overhauling the entire game. If you're a completionist who notices texture quality on every item, this is a nice touch. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or new mead types—this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to install and easily toggle the optional bottle texture
- If you have other texture mods that affect mead bottles, place this mod lower in your load order to ensure it takes priority
- Check the mod's images on the Nexus page to see the two styles and color options before deciding which to use
