📋 About This Mod
This mod allows players to get into a "bleed out downed state" when they would have taken fatal damage and have a chance to revive themselves before being killed.
Configurable health when downed/revived, hotkey for revival, time to hold hotkey to revive, and optional consumables required to revive (can be any ingestible category item in the game that you choose including modded ones).
- []To change the Revive Prompt text, edit the included translation ini file[/]
- []If you play solo you should probably set downed health to 100% so you actually have a chance to revive yourself[/]
When consumables requirement is enabled, you can choose more than one type of ingestible category item like food/drinks/potions so that these need to be in the player's inventory for a downed state to even happen. And when revived, these items will be consumed, with all the effects that come with these items. So if you choose a healing potion for example, then when you get revived you actually consume the healing potion and heal from it. These items can be modded items so you can create your own rare "self revive" ingestibles for higher difficulty balancing.
The revival hotkey prompt's graphics are from the Skyprompt mod. If you want to change its looks download patches for Skyprompt and IMGUI icons from different UI changing mods.
Not compatible with VR.
Compatibility with death alternative mods: Generally this mod should be compatible with death alternative mods that trigger teleportation to another cell upon "death" as the "downed" system never reaches player "dying" states in the first place. However death alternative mods that directly stop the pathway prior to this will probably be incompatible.

Player Self Revive adds a configurable bleed-out state to Skyrim, letting you hold a hotkey to revive instead of dying outright. It supports optional consumable costs, any ingestible item including modded ones, and a 5-second invulnerability window after getting up. Ideal for players who want a second chance without trivializing combat, with 100 endorsements and a recent update.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Lets you crawl back from death with a hold-to-revive hotkey instead of reloading a save.
- Optional consumable costs can use any ingestible, including modded items, so you can balance it around rare self-revive potions.
- 5-second invulnerability after getting up stops enemies from instantly killing you again, and it clears debuffs once.
⚠️ Cons
- Consecutive self-revives in the same fight make enemies target you while downed, so it gets riskier the more you rely on it.
- Solo players must raise downed health to 100% or the bleed-out window is too short to realistically hold the hotkey.
- Revival prompt visuals are tied to Skyprompt; if you use a different UI overhaul you'll need to find or install patches.
For Skyrim players who hate cheap deaths and want a configurable second wind instead of loading a save. Summoner and follower builds get extra protection while downed, while solo players will need to tweak downed health. Skip if you want hardcore death penalties or a zero-config mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you play solo, set downed health to 100% in the config so you actually have time to hold the revive key before bleeding out.
- Bind the revival hotkey to a mouse side button or something near WASD—you'll need to hold it while possibly still in combat.
- If the default Skyprompt bar clashes with your UI, search for Skyprompt patches for your interface mod to change the revive prompt look.
