Parallax Textures For Vanilla Game and Various Mods

The command line tools (sorry NVidia only, there is CPU fallback but it was untested and might take ages to process)

If you have your own textures or use textures that authors don't allow modifications of - you have a tool now.

1. Unpack it  into some folder. Try to have it on SSD or NVM for speed, and make sure you have enough place to have a full copy of all textures from the game.

2. Set up the tool

setup.batIf it is your first time using the tool, it'll download required libraries and set up python environment. If needed it should also install uv package manager

3. Copy relevant textures from Skyrim using the automated tool

prepare-input.batIt will ask which skyrim you want to use - it will try to find it in default Steam or GOG locations, but if you have moved game elsewhere - you will need to edit the configurations in cfg folder (see games.yaml)

This will copy data from main game and all mods you might have and put loose textures on top so if your textures folder is kept in order by your mod manager, it should keep this order.

Those textures will be copied into input folder

4. Spend a lot of time watching progress bar

run.batThe tool will convert all the textures in the input folder and put a parallax textures in identical structure in output folder.

It will take a while. On 5090 class graphics card, think 30 min or so

You are now a happy owner of parallax textures for your skyrim. But to use them you need to:

Just zip it, and you should have something like output.zip. Install it as a mod in vortex, then you HAVE to run PGPatcher tool with Upgrade Parallax to Complex Material option.

7. Use Dyndolod

If you use the mod this way - you do not need any other files. This command set will prepare your private, own parallax textures.

The tool converts all normal (_n) textures to parallax when placed in input folder so you can use it to prepare modpacks textures, own parallax textures for your own mods etc.
