📋 About This Mod
For arcane technical reasons that I'm content for now to treat as magic, when we pick a smithing specialization from Ordinator's Smithing perk tree, we're given a magic effect to let us actually start working glass, dragon bones, orichalcum, or what have you. However, I've never seen any need for why these effects are allowed to clog up our list of active effects, intermingling with the usual Fortify Health and Resist Shock, when the same information is there in the perk tree.
While trawling the Creation Kit tutorials one day, I stumbled upon mention of the flag that determines whether effects like these are shown in the UI. After a bit of self-experimentation (as any truly mad scientist would do) I've published the resultant plugin for use by anyone else who shares in this very particular bugbear.
The mod is an ESPFE light plugin, so you needn't worry about it taking a full load order slot - it'll automatically merge into the 0xFE position. Obviously, you'll need to have Ordinator installed in the first place.
Ordinator - Hidden Smithing Specialization Perks is a small UI mod for Skyrim that hides the magic effects added by Ordinator's smithing specialization perks from the active effects list. It's an ESPFE light plugin that merges into the 0xFE slot, requiring Ordinator. With 395 endorsements and last updated in 2020, it's a niche quality-of-life fix for players bothered by UI clutter.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Clean UI fix for a common annoyance—no more clutter from smithing perks in your active effects.
- Lightweight ESPFE means it won't eat a load order slot, perfect for modded setups.
- Community-approved with 395 endorsements, so it's proven to work for others.
⚠️ Cons
- Only works if you use Ordinator—if you're not on that perk overhaul, this mod is useless.
- Last updated in 2020, so it might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim versions or Ordinator updates.
- Niche appeal: if you don't mind seeing those effects, there's no reason to grab this.
For Skyrim players who use Ordinator and hate seeing extra magic effects cluttering their active effects list. If you're a UI perfectionist or just want a cleaner HUD, this is a quick fix. Skip if you don't use Ordinator or don't care about active effect clutter.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure Ordinator is installed and loaded before this mod in your load order.
- Since it's an ESPFE, it will merge into the 0xFE slot automatically—no need to worry about load order conflicts.
- If you're using a mod manager, just download and activate; it's a simple plugin.
