📋 About This Mod
As the upcoming Greatsword low stance will feature an aggressive poise and locked on target locomotion, which won't be ideal while the character is out of combat/exploring with the weapon drawn, I decided to make this much more relaxed set, designed for exploration, to bridge the gap between sheathed movement and the aggressive low stance (or/and any other stance/movement mod) that is designed for combat.
This covers the idle, walk and run in all directions, sprint, jump, equip and unequip animations with Greatswords only while out of combat/during exploration, which means that your already installed Greatsword stance/movement animations will still play while detected/in combat.
The animations apply to both the player character and NPCs.
The optional file contains a simpler version of the idle where the actor does not rest the Greatsword's point on the ground.
This mod was inspired by the Historical European Martial Arts technique of "Half-Swording", here is a neat video by Skallagrim showcasing some of its uses in action:

The "Murder-Stroke" and "Half-Sword Thrust" attacks showcased in the video above will be part of my upcoming "Leviathan Animations II - Greatsword Power Attacks" and "Leviathan Animations II - Greatsword MCO Moveset".

The armor seen in the video is Wind Ruler Armor SE.

It requires Dynamic Animation Replacer (DAR) and has gained significant traction with over 6,400 endorsements and 1.1 million downloads, indicating strong community approval.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Massive community trust: 6,428 endorsements and 1.1M downloads show this mod is a staple for many.
- Adds immersive, non-combat movement variety for greatsword users, making exploration feel more natural.
- Conditional system means it only kicks in when you're out of combat, so it won't interfere with combat animations.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires DAR, which is a mandatory dependency—if you don't have it, this mod won't work.
- Only affects non-combat locomotion; if you're looking for combat animation overhauls, this isn't it.
- Last updated in early 2023—may have compatibility issues with newer Skyrim versions or other animation mods.
For Skyrim players who want their greatsword-wielding characters to move more naturally when exploring or running around. If you're into immersion and already use DAR, this is a must-have. Skip if you want combat animation changes or don't want to deal with DAR dependencies.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have DAR installed and enabled before adding this mod, or the animations won't trigger.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to install—it'll handle file placement correctly.
- If you use other animation mods, check load order to ensure this one doesn't conflict with them.
