📋 About This Mod
Watch your step!
The traps in Skyrim were always a mystery to me. Never powerful enough to actually pose a threat, annoying because enemies would always shrug them off and quite weird since nobody seemed to hear them despite the noise. To be quite honest, whenever I could simply ignore spike beds, flammable gas, dwemer slicers or even lava, traps and natural danger that should be quite dangerous, I felt quite disappointed. Here's my remedy:
Features:
- []Affects traps all around Skyrim, the Dawnguard expansion and Solstheim. []Traps deal much more damage, but are balanced enough to not instantly kill you at higher levels. []Sound events will alert nearby enemies when a trap is activated. []Traps are unleveled, much like how MorrowLoot handles things. []Diseases will infect you more often. []Your character and enemy NPCs will get staggered when hit by specific traps. Some can even make you fly for a bit. []Traps are much more effective against enemies, permitting a tactical usage of them to defeat powerful foes. []NEW: Trip wires and Nordic pressure plates are slightly concealed. []NEW: Smilodon - Combat of Skyrim version is available within the installation wizard. This new version also works with Wildcat. []NEW: You can now swap objects on pedestal traps as seen in the famous Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark scene with the golden idol and sand bag. Giant boulder chase scenes are not included.

Lethal Traps overhauls Skyrim's traps to deal significantly more damage, alert nearby enemies, and stagger the player. Traps are unleveled and carefully balanced for a more dangerous, realistic experience. This mod is for players who want a tougher challenge and need to watch their step.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 4,230 endorsements — clearly a lot of players dig the extra danger
- Makes traps a real threat, forcing you to actually watch your step instead of sprinting through dungeons
- Unleveled and balanced design means the danger stays consistent no matter your level
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016 — might have compatibility issues with newer Skyrim versions or mods
- If you prefer a more relaxed playthrough, this could be frustrating since traps become deadly
For Skyrim veterans who find vanilla traps too weak and want a more punishing, immersive experience. Also great for stealth players who need to scout ahead carefully. Skip if you're a casual player who doesn't want to worry about every pressure plate.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since traps are unleveled, even low-level characters can be one-shot by a well-placed trap — always keep a healing spell or potion ready
- Use a follower or a summoned creature to trigger traps ahead of you if you're unsure of the path
- If you're using a mod manager, make sure to load Lethal Traps after other gameplay overhauls to avoid conflicts
