📋 About This Mod
I was intending to release some CotR presets and including this quick patch as an optional file, but then decided it'd be better as its own separate thing.
So if you've used Charmers of the Reach as an elven race you'll quickly notice that most elven hairstyles don't fit their scalp, like at all. This is because CotR elven races have the same skull shape as human races (the only difference being their ears), whereas vanilla elven races have slimmer, more elongated skull. Other patches fix/workaround this bug by manually editing every single hairstyle records from using HeadpartsHumansandVampires to HeadpartsAllRacesMinusBeast formlist. So tedious and conflict-prone! Mine work by simply adding CotR elven races to such formlists dynamically, using the almighty Formlist Manipulator. No ESP yay.

Put this in your Data folder.
If someone has already made something like this, whoops.
This mod fixes the hairstyle clipping issue for Charmers of the Reach (CotR) elven races in Skyrim by dynamically adding them to human headpart formlists via Formlist Manipulator, avoiding manual record edits and ESP files. It's a lightweight compatibility patch for players using CotR elves who want vanilla hairstyles to fit properly.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- No ESP means it's super clean and won't bloat your load order.
- Dynamic formlist editing avoids conflicts with other mods that manually edit hairstyle records.
- Community-approved with 114 endorsements and nearly 8k downloads, so it's proven to work for many players.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Formlist Manipulator as a dependency, so you need to install that separately.
- Only affects CotR elven races—if you don't use that mod, this does nothing for you.
- Compatibility risk: since it edits formlists dynamically, other mods that also manipulate those formlists could conflict, though the approach is designed to minimize that.
For Skyrim players who use Charmers of the Reach as an elven race and are tired of hairstyles clipping through their scalps. If you're not using CotR elves, skip this—it's a niche fix. But if you are, this is a must-have quality-of-life patch.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Formlist Manipulator installed and enabled before adding this mod, or the dynamic edits won't apply.
- If you're using a mod manager, you can still drop the file into your Data folder manually—it's just a single file, so no need for complex setup.
- Test with a few different hairstyles in-game to confirm the fix works; if you see clipping, double-check that Formlist Manipulator is active.
